The Lowari Pass in Pakistan, 3118m.
This was probably the most adventurous place I cycled. On the far side of the ridge in the background is Afghanistan. Machine gun posts were set up at points along the road, to protect against bandits raiding across the border. The soldiers manning those posts warned me to make sure I was off the highway by dark.
